Anna (Annie) Bambach 1847-1941

John was Jane’s first base born child at age 15. He was registered under the name of Blanch with no father’s name. He was born at George’s property at Burrowel in the Williams River district.

In 1877 he married Anna (Annie) Therese Bambach. Her father, a skilled winedresser, was brought to Australia from Germany in 1849 to work in the Porphyry vineyards near Seaham. John and Annie initially settled and farmed at nearby Stewartsfield. Annie was reputed to be a very strong, determined and robust woman brooking no argument from family or friends. They had 11 surviving children who mainly settled nearby.

John and William Fisher (Dorethea Mosman’s husband) shared the trusteeship and management of the late George Mosman’s Burrowel properties until 1886 or 1887 when George’s youngest, Agnes, turned 21. Several of George’s children apparently remained at Burrowel until then. At that time John and William subdivided the property into seventeen lots for sale with Dorothea and George Burnett Mosman buying one farm each.
